Achieve Certificate I in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 2 Near Coastal)
Sea Service
Either 7 days with completed AMSA task book OR 60 days qualifying sea service
Medical Requirements
Meet medical and eyesight requirements specified in NSCV Part D
Assessment
Complete AMSA mandated practical assessment on vessel ≥5.0m in length

Getting Started
Who can apply?
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification. Applicants must be at least 16 years old to be issued a license.
How do I track my sea service?
You'll need either 7 days qualifying sea service with a completed AMSA approved task book, or 60 days qualifying sea service. AMSA provides guidance documents for tracking your sea time.
What's the certification process?
After completing the qualification, you'll need to meet AMSA requirements including sea service, medical checks, and a practical assessment before receiving your Certificate of Competency.
