Qualification Description
The Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal) prepares you to work on vessels up to 80 meters or in engine rooms with propulsion systems up to 3000 kW, under general supervision of the master or engineer.
Licensing Information
This qualification meets requirements for certification as a General Purpose Hand Near Coastal as specified in Marine Order 505. AMSA Certification requires completing MAR10224, qualifying sea service, and holding a current First Aid Certificate.
Course Requirements
Total of 8 core units including First Aid, routine maintenance, fire safety, work health and safety, survival at sea, vessel abandonment skills, crew work, and general purpose hand skills aboard commercial vessels.
